The illusion of giving…

Posted on Posted in Lifestyle

Greetings Everybody,

Most of us have heard the phrase, “It’s more blessed to give than receive”; however when it comes to the simple act of giving having a sense of clarity about our motivations and mindset really matters. Many of us are unconsciously trapped within an illusion that’s so self-centered that everything we do, even within our closest relationships and with ourselves, is actually buying and bartering rather than unconditional giving.

Most of us would agree that giving on any level feels really good, but internally all forms of giving are not created equal. When we give with the expectation of receiving something in return, we are not really giving from a pure motive. However when we give from a generous heart, the joy of giving becomes its own reward.

When you give from a generous heart you become part of a giant feedback loop grounded on an abundance mindset; fueled with empowerment of both giving and receiving because there is no resistance involved. There is a free flow of the giving energy and it feels equally good on either end.

The opposite is a scarcity mindset. Given that scarcity is about limits and resistance, no real energy flow occurs here. Having a scarcity mindset is like going through life trying to fill up a bag with a hole in the bottom. Of course, in reality, scarcity is just an illusion created by our own thinking and insecurities surrounding unequal distribution. Hoarding, clinging and possession come from this mindset, all of which create an extremely limiting illusionary perception of reality.

When your motive is giving from the heart and your mindset is one of abundance, that energy can come back to you in some very unpredictable ways. A word of caution to remember, if you’re giving simply to get something back, then you and only you are putting limits on the ways that you can receive.

So remember when you give without wanting anything in return it opens up your heart to an enhanced sense of unlimited abundance fueled with peace, love and joy. Because your motive is pure, your heart is free to experience giving at the highest level.

How does giving without expectation feel to you? Are you finding it difficult to let go of expecting something in return? If so, feel free to contact me by phone or email and let’s have a chat.

May you all be well in spirit and health,
